And the pop princess has already been to one of the readings of the show, which is about a book club of iconic fairy princesses who wind up reading Betty Friedan's The Feminine Mystique, according to the New York Times.<br>

The show will open on the Great White Way only after being tried out of town in Chicago in the autumn.<br>

When the 1963 book arrives via fairy godmother, it interrupts their usual habit of rereading the Grimms' omnibus that makes up their whole library.<br>

Once Upon A One More Time's princesses include Cinderella, Rapunzel, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty - coincidentally, all characters who were also sent up in Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's hit 1987 Broadway musical Into The Woods. <br>

The show's book is by Jon Hartmere, who co-wrote Bare, a rock musical about gay students grappling with their identities at a Catholic boarding school. <br>

It was Jon who dished to the New York Times that Britney swung by one of multiple Once Upon A One More Time readings that have been held to date.<br>

A string of her famous numbers and what Jon called 'a couple of deep album cuts' make up the currently 23 Britney songs featured in the stage show.<br>

Jon said of the plot: 'Cinderella is having an existential crisis, and she has a posse of famous princesses, and her stepmother is the main antagonist, and there's also Prince Charming and a dwarf we've never met - the eighth dwarf - and a narrator who is unhappy his system is being dismantled before his eyes.'<br>

He explained: 'These women have been in this hermetically sealed world, and then they start to get deeper into modern ideas - second and third-wave feminism - and also explore how stories are passed down to us, and where we get our norms from. But it's also superfun and funny.' <br>

The plans for this new musical were revealed this week by James L. Nederlander, the president of the theater-owning firm that bears his family's name.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Founded 107 years ago, the Nederlander Organization controls such Broadway theaters as the Palace, the Lunt-Fontanne, the Richard Rodgers and the Gershwin.<br>
<br>
<br>
<br>
Outside their home base of New York City, they also own three theaters in London's West End - the Adelphi, the Aldwych and the Dominion.<br>
